Shuaidong was born and grew up in a small village in Shanxi province, China. In 2006, he left his beloved hometown and started his undergraduate study at East China University of Technology major in Materials Science and Engineering. After getting his B.S. degree in 2010, he came back to northern China pursuing his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. During this time, he was under the supervision of Prof. Xing-Jie Liang in the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and co-supervised by Prof. Shengtai He in Tiangong University and Prof. Vincent M. Rotello in University of Massachusetts Amherst, United States.
After obtaining his Ph.D. degree in 2016, his spirit of adventure drives him moved to Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. After one-year unforgettable postdoctoral research in polymer chemistry, he moved with Prof. Andreas Herrmann’s whole group to the DWI-Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials in Aachen, Germany. His research topic focuses on engineered biomacromolecules and inorganic hybrid nanostructures for various medical and technological applications. Currently, he received the support from “Nanqiang Outstanding Young Talents Program” (A) and joined the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPS), Xiamen University (XMU) as Professor from 2020.
Up to now, Dr. Huo published more than 40 peer-reviewed SCI papers, including Nature Chemistry, Nature Nanotechnology, Science Advances, PNAS, Advanced Materials, Biomaterials, etc, with a total citation more than 4600, H-index=26. He is serving as a Community board member and adjudicative review for Nanoscale Horizons (IF 10.989). He was also recognized by receiving many awards, such as Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings Scholarship (Germany), Scholar-in-Training Award (American Association for Cancer Research), Carl Storm International Diversity Fellowship (Gordon Research Conferences), etc.(2023.01)

(2)机械力化学:通过机械力调控药物活性,实现药物的定点可控释放与激活;
(3)机械力纳米技术:机械力化学与纳米科技的交叉研究,实现目标生物分子的结构、功能调控等;(4)纳米合成:不同尺寸、形貌纳米颗粒的合成及化学修饰,探索其与生物系统(细菌、肿瘤等)的相互作用及生物学意义。
